The piano is one of the most versatile and popular musical instruments and was invented in 1698 by Bartolomeo Cristofori in Italy. A modern day instrument has over 7500 working parts and the total tension on the piano's iron frame created by its 230 strings is equivalent to 20 tons in weight.
Playing a musical instrument is incredibly rewarding and will provide many hours of enjoyment for the rest of your life. In addition, studies have shown that children who learn piano often exhibit more self-discipline and concentration, thus achieve higher results in school. Similarly researchers have measured strong changes in the brains of those who begin taking piano lessons, even after the age of 65.
JD Music Services offers all new pupils an initial no-obligation trial lesson with professional concert pianist Jonathan Delbridge. Jonathan has over 14 years' experience teaching pupils of all ages and abilities and also performs regularly in venues throughout the UK including the Royal Albert Hall, Truro Cathedral and Plymouth University. He has an FRSM diploma in piano which is the highest diploma awarded by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. In addition he holds an ALCM diploma in jazz piano and a DipMusTh(ICMA) in music theory. Whilst pupils consistently gain excellent results in exams and many go on to pursue their own musical careers, Jonathan is equally happy teaching those who simply want to learn for their own personal enjoyment.
Piano lessons are currently £31 per hour and are 30, 45 or 60 minutes duration. Jonathan will discuss your requirements during your initial trial lesson. Invoices are sent half termly and extra tuition can be arranged for the school holidays. For more advanced pupils one-off consultation lessons are also available.

"As an adult returning to learning the piano at a higher grade, I found Jonathan to be encouraging and fun. As a result my confidence and love of playing grew. He even managed to keep two of my boys interested and they are still playing! I would recommend Jonathan whether you are a beginner or a seasoned player."
