The Complete Music Learning Experience

Organ Lessons

The pipe organ is one of the most exciting and versatile instruments; lending itself well to a wide range of musical genres. It can easily produce sounds from a tiniest whisper to a thunderous roar, which is why Mozart famously described it as the "The King of Instruments".

Jonathan has over 14 years' experience teaching organ to pupils of all ages and abilities and has an LTCL diploma in organ playing which he gained with distinction in 2007. Whilst pupils consistently gain excellent results in exams and many go on to pursue their own musical careers, Jonathan is equally happy teaching those who simply want to learn for their own personal enjoyment. All pupils interested in learning the organ are offered an initial no-obligation trial lesson.

Lessons can be provided at JD Music Services' studio, which is conveniently located in the centre of Crewkerne, Somerset and contains a Viscount digital organ, closely resembling a real pipe organ. Alternatively, lessons can also be offered at a venue of your choice or in local churches.

Organ lessons at the studio are currently £31 per hour and are 30, 45 or 60 minutes duration. Jonathan will discuss your requirements during your initial trial lesson. Invoices are sent half termly and extra tuition can be arranged for the school holidays. For more advanced pupils one-off consultation lessons are also available.

"Jonathan Delbridge was my music teacher for 12 years. On setting out for my first lesson with him, I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to learn very much as I was already in my early 60’s and couldn’t even read music. Not about to take the easy route I wanted to learn to play the classical organ, and was aware that most music pupils were of school age, whereas I hadn’t even played piano as a child. However, I needn't have worried as Jonathan is not only a brilliant musician (on piano and organ) but is also an excellent music teacher.
I really can’t praise him enough. He’s endlessly patient, knowledgeable and an excellent motivator. I played in several of Jonathan’s Pupil concerts and even twice on the Truro Cathedral Organ (on open days) something I never dreamt would be possible. I also passed several exams with the ABRSM."
